Grand Geneva Say “I Do” Photo Contest – Cevin & Giovanna – 10 years later

30 Jul, 2010

Cevin and Giovanna were married at the Grand Geneva Resort on July 8, 2000 and have entered our Say “I Do” Photo Contest. They’d love to celebrate their 10 year anniversary at the Grand Geneva.

Congratulations to the happy couple and we wish you the very best!

Cevin & Giovanna’s story:

Cevin Moses and I were married on July 8, 2000 at St. Andrew’s in Delavan, Wisconsin. We had a red and green trolley ride with our bridal party to Grand Geneva – and the fun was just beginning. It was a wedding reception that still does my family proud. Being a first generation Sicilian bride is no easy task. Italian weddings have a reputation for being lavish, full of energy and they always place a tremendous emphasis on food. Mine was no exception. We had a receiving line of over 200 people with bomboniere (wedding favors) for the women and liquor shots for every man. We had an Antipasto room with the most delectable bites from 4 -5:00, followed by a fabulous dinner with 6 tables of fresh chef-served food stations – the smell of garlic was in the air and WONDERFUL – and nearly as breathtaking as the view from the reception hall from the 4 large windows over viewing the golf course.

The dinner started with Italian wedding soup and finished with a scoop of gelato to cleanse the palate before the toasts and dancing began. We had the Antipasto room converted to the Sweets Table room, and if you’ve even been to an Italian wedding, you don’t want to miss the Sweets Table. The Grand Geneva was able to meet and exceed all our needs and was really able to provide us with a traditional Italian wedding that is still talked about today.  We certainly started off our life together with a bang – and a lot of love and support – support we’d need for the journey ahead. Cevin and I were together only 4 days after our wedding – he returned to flight school with the ARMY, training to be a medical evacuation helicopter pilot, and I returned to optometry school. We wouldn’t be together again for 2 years. At that reunion, we were together only 8 months, when we learned he would be deployed to Iraq from Ft. Hood, Texas. He returned, thankfully, safe and sound, and we found out he’d been assigned to serve a year in Korea. Our newborn and I decided, we had to come along. We spent a year together in South Korea and then Alabama. Cevin retired his commission and took a job in Kohler, Wisconsin. We had a great year there – but then Cevin found a job back in Walworth county – and we put the house on the market – right as the housing market hit its low. Cevin lived and worked in Lake Geneva area, for 18 months, as the kids and I lived in Sheboygan, separated once again, trying to sell the house. Finally it sold – and we were reunited – and for the last time (we’re hoping!) Back together again – and just in time to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! We would love to celebrate it at the Grand Geneva – to bring back and revel in all memories and good times with which it started. We might even ask for a scoop of gelato to freshen our palate for the next adventure!

I remember being so impressed by the beauty and serenity of the grounds at the Grand Geneva. The facilities were wonderful, and I’ll never forget my sonnn’s lavish wedding and reception!
