Honor Our Heroes
27 May, 2014
Over the past month you may have noticed a lot of posts about Heroes on our Facebook Page. In honor of Memorial Day, we decided to host a contest in which our fans could nominate their Hero to win one of three prizes; an overnight stay at Grand Geneva, golf for 2 and a $100 dining credit or a round of golf for 4 or dinner for 2 at Geneva ChopHouse.
The nominations came flooding in! We received stories of almost 50 Heroes and while we did not get the opportunity to post every nomination on our Facebook wall in the weeks leading up to Memorial Day Weekend we’ve decided to share some more of the nominations with you today. Even though the contest is over and the winners have been announced, we want to continue to recognize all heroes with the “Honor our Heroes” packages at Grand Geneva and Timber Ridge which include 15% off the best available rate!
Thank you to all the participants and an even bigger THANK YOU to all of the Heroes who have made and continue to make a difference in the lives they touch everyday.
Here are some of the nominees:
Kevin has worked as the dean of students at Grayslake North High School in Illinois for over a decade. He is so fantastic at his job, not because he is good at punishing kids for their mistakes. He, instead, is a hero to the students he works with because even in the most difficult circumstances, he treats the kids with respect and sincere concern. Kevin truly works to help students move past their small or big mistakes at school, to become better, more responsible overall citizens.
Mark is a volunteer firefighter for the Village of Oostburg. He is very dedicated to this position and has put many hours of training in.
My son is my HERO. My son has dreamed of being a US Maine since the age of 8 after the attacks on 9/11. He vowed that day that he would always keep me safe along with the rest off the United States.
When I first met him he saved me from leading my life down the wrong path. He is someone you can trust with your life. He served 6 years in the Army, doing 3 tours!
My father served 28 1/2 years in the US Navy. He started his naval career from Great Lakes and was deployed to the Vietnam War.
He is our rock & we couldn’t imagine our life without him. He is the biggest Hero our family could ask for!!!
I was diagnosed with mutiple sclerosis 4 years ago and I do not know how I could live with out her. She takes care of me and helps me with my day to day routine. Stuff a healty person takes for granted sometimes I have to deal without having it.
Cameron is my 13 year old son. He was born with a chromosome deletion leading to a multitude of struggles. We were told he would not walk or talk …. The picture will indicate they were wrong.
