New Villas Perfect for Groups and Families Now Open at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa

26 May, 2017

The Villas at Grand Geneva opened to guests at the resort this spring after an extensive renovation, taking them from the Playboy days to modern luxury. They are the perfect getaway for small groups, family gatherings, and friendly weekends.

Built in 1974, the Villas were part of the Playboy resort. They designed studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units for fun weekend getaways. The original plan was to build 600 villas, as plotted in the original blueprint records on file. But after the first 46 villas were completed, Playboy only sold 16 units to private owners. Unable to find buyers for all of them due to economic restraints, Playboy sold them as 10-, 20-, and 40-year timeshares. Families have enjoyed them ever since!

The Villas are built in clusters, with several different room types. There are seven floor plans! Many people have their favorite villa to visit during their vacation since each one is slightly different.

When Marcus bought the resort in 1993, the resort included the Villas. Marcus maintained them over the years, re-carpeting, painting, roofing, and replacing furniture, unable to make major renovations until all the timeshares ended. As the timeshare leases lapsed, Marcus did not renew with guests, holding on to these special pieces of a Grand plan. During the interim time, employed associates resided in the Villas over the last 20 years.

In March 2017, the last of the 40-year timeshares ended and Marcus began a new and exciting multi-million dollar renovation. 31 Villas are now part of Grand Geneva’s operating portfolio, bringing the total room number to 609.

Most of the Villas include private bathrooms for each bedroom, fireplaces, full kitchens and laundry machines. There’s plenty of space for the moments when you want to relax with friends watching tv, lounge on the porch overlooking the White River, brainstorm new ideas with colleagues or sneak away from the group at the Main Lodge.

This summer when you head out with your colleagues for a team retreat, skip the board room and book a Villa to make the most of every minute together!
