Meet Traci: Grand Geneva Resort Events Sales Leader

Grand Geneva Resort & Spa touts both our 62,000 square feet of meeting space and professionals. Our sales department has more than 100 years of combined experience. Traci Samalis brings 30 of those to the table. After years of working her way up in the hospitality industry, Samalis found her calling as a senior account executive specializing in strategic group planning, customer retention strategy, client needs analysis, and total account revenue management.

Attracted to the travel industry, Samalis started her career working the front desk at Marriott’s Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington, Kentucky. Experiencing the industry department-by-department; reservations, banquets, catering, and convention services, Samalis discovered she’s best suited in sales. She’s passionate about finding the right piece of business that’s good for both the client and the venue.

“At one time or another, I’ve worked with every market segment in the US,” she said. Her competitive attitude means she’s always striving to expand her network and she gives 110% of herself to achieve her goals.

Samalis has experienced it all, but still gets excited about seeing a full parking lot, housekeepers, banquets working and knowing she played a part in that happening.  She has loads of experience working directly with clients as well as third party intermediaries, and professional meeting planners and refers to many as friends.

With roots in Racine, Wisconsin, Samalis was thrilled when she discovered Grand Geneva tucked away in beautiful Lake Geneva. She was aware of the old Playboy Club, but underestimated the potential hidden in the halls.

“It’s a blessing to sell a four diamond resort of this unique caliber,” she says about Grand Geneva and its colorful history and breathtaking views of the Wisconsin countryside. “I love being able to offer anything a group is looking to do, whether it’s ski, spa, large tradeshows, or team building, and helping them achieve a flawless event for their attendees. It provides a tremendous amount of pride and gratitude.”

Samalis enjoys touring the property with her clients and seeing their eyes light up when she features the back side of the resort, exposing the rolling greens of the golf courses and shimmering lake.

“The look of surprise on their faces is off the charts awesome,” she says with a smile.

When asked about her favorite season at Grand, Samalis said, “Definitely summer , however I really love how our Frank Loyd Wright style architecture  captures the beauty of each of seasons of the Midwest.”
